3form Design - Consumer Product of the Year Finalists

3form Design have been selected as a finalist in the Plastics Industry Awards for Consumer Product Design of the Year for their work on developing the Wean Machine for client Jackson Beazeley. Portable, compact and including a spoon, the easy-to-use Wean Machine enables parents to provide highly nutritious fruit and vegetable baby food instantly and wherever they are - just fill, squeeze and feed. The product is also dishwasher safe and easily sterilised.

BDI member 3form Design had to develop the product from a seemingly simple concept by turning the original idea inside out and applying all their skill sets to make the project a reality. The concept defied the rules of moulding and material strength.

From first sketch, the most fitting solution to the brief required specialist expertise in production techniques and materials, so 3fD designed the moulding tools to make the concept viable, engineered the parts to be mechanically sound, and championed the design through certification and continual lifetime support.

With 3fD commanding the engineering, tool design and manufacturing process, the Wean Machine, which is now being shipped to 40 countries, incorporates design, engineering, moulding tools, production, inspection and boxed-finished product expertise through the involvement of Ikonyx, 3form's own manufacturing and logistics company.

As a working mother, time is of the essence, but as a nutritional therapist preparing nutritional meals for my baby is even more important. The Wean Machine enables me to do both simply, whether at home or out and about

3form Design's client list includes AGA, B&Q, Mastercard, Speedo International and Unilever.
